Eliza J., wife of M.. Richard Brown, died at Poor's Mills, Belfast, June 17, aged 83 years and nearly 7 months. Mrs. Brown had been ill for some time, but the immediate cause of her death was heart failure. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Banks. Mrs. Brown's maiden name as Grant. She was born in Vinalhaven, now North Haven, where she lived until about twenty years ago, when the family moved on to a farm at Poor's Mills. Mrs. Brown was a Christian lady and much respected by all. She leaves a husband, two sons and two daughters. One son, Capt. Garvenus, lives in Portland, and one, Elbridge, is in the west. The daughters are Mrs. Joseph Banks, of Poor's Mills, and Mrs. Winfield S. Carver, of Vinalhaven. The funeral took place Monday and the exercises were by Rev. Geo. E. Tufts.
Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Carver of Vinalhaven arrived Sunday. They came to attend the burial of Mrs. Carvers' mother, Mrs. Brown.
