Charles William Grant was born at 9 McKenzies Close Nairn, Scotland to Alexander [Alex] Grant and Isabella Kemp on 1 June 1858.

Occupied in 1881as a servant boot; changed occupation to; pitheadman labourer; 1896 when daughter born; he was a colliery labourer'

Marriage Notice "1891, 17th Day of April at Heathbourne Cottage Glenurquhart , Road Inverness; after Banns according to the Church of Scotland; C.W. Grant, a Batchelor; hall porter, of 37 High Street Inverness; and M. McEwan a domestic servant of Glenurquhart Road Inverness. Parent's of groom Alexander Grant a lorry man deceased; and Isabella Grant, maiden name Kemp. Parent's of the bride Peter McEwan a coal miner; and Elizabeth McEwan, maiden surname Arnott. Witnesses Francis Grant and Margaret McDonald; registered 1891, April 20 at Inverness"

Married 17 April 1891 at Inverness, Scotland to Margaret McEwan; they had five known children named:- Peter McEwan Grant, Francis Kemp Grant, Elizabeth Arnot [Betty] Grant, Thomas McEwan Grant, and Margaret McEwan [Peggy] Grant.

Census 1901 has his wife and children in a hospital, poorhouses, or poors houses; very likely owing to the length of time he had been ill; and inability to work for an income.

Death record- Charles William Grant a labourer died 1902, April 10, at 5 hour 10 minutes p.m.; at Fife and Kinross Asylum; parish of Cupar age 42. Parent's named Alexander Grant a lorry man; Isabella Grant, Maiden name Kemp.

Death occurred after a long illness; on 10 April 1902 at Fife and Kinross Asylum, Cupar, Scotland .
