Mary Ann Cooper (married name Southwell) was born in 1853 in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Martha Witts and James Cooper.^[1]

She married Thomas Southwelll in 1876 in Queanbeyan.^[1] Their children were:^[1]
