Thomas Clarke, son of Andrew Clarke and Mehitable Scotton, was born in Boston, July 10, 1672.[1] He came when a lad to Harwich, Massachusetts with his father. [2]
His grandfather Thomas Clarke of Plymouth, formerly of Boston, gave him "his three sixteenth of land at Satucket". He was selectman of the town in 1707, 1708, 1709 and 1710. [2]
He was twice married, his first wife was Sarah. She died of consumption at one o'clock in the morning of April 24, 1743 at age 71. She was buried in the church-yard at Brewster. [2]
He married for his second wife Mrs. Patience Hall, widow of Samuel of the South Precinct, on December 14, 1743. She was a lady of considerable property. [2]
She died August 10, 1756, age 70, and lies buried by the side of his first wife with a stone marking the spot. [2]
Thomas died after some months sickness at six o'clock on the morning of November 11, 1759 in the 89th year of his age. He was buried the 13th following, with "an abundance of people" attending. His gravestone stands in the cemetery at Brewster. [2] [3]
