Biography

Hugh Allen was born in about 1745 (based on SAR record) Lieutenant Hugh Allen is listed as killed in the battle of Point Pleasant on Oct. 10, 1774. View name on Memorial from Tu-Endie-Wei State Park [1] [2] The Battle was located at the confluence of the Kanawha River and the Ohio River in modern-day Point Pleasant, West Virginia, United States. Tu-Endie-Wei State Park commemorates the Battle of Point Pleasant.[3]

Hugh Allen married Jean Anderson on 6 Nov 1765 in Virginia. [2]

Research Notes

"Jean Anderson, the wife of William Craig, was the widow Allen when she married him, her first husband, Lieutenant Hugh Allen, having been killed in the Indian battle of Point Pleasant in 1774. By her first marriage she had three sons, John, William and Hugh Allen, who removed to Kentucky in 1784 with their people, the Trimbles and others, and their d^cendants are numerous in that State to this day.
