Jonathan Allen was born on September 30th, 1732 in East Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. His parents were Jacob Allen and Abigail Kingman. [1]

He married Sarah Bass in 1755 at East Bridgewater. [1]

Together they had these children born in Bridgewater: [1]

  3. Mehetabel Allen, b. May 24, 1763.

Jonathan Allen served in the American Revolutionary War, first as a Corporal in Capt. Robert Orr's company, Col. John Bailey's regiment which marched on the alarm of April 19th, 1775, and was commissioned an Ensign in Capt. John Packard's company, Col. David Brewer's 20th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment, and later served as a Lieutenant in Col. John Bailey's 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, Continental Army from Jan. 1, 1777 into 1778 and was at Valley Forge. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

He died Feb. 2, 1780 [2] while still in service to his country. [8]
