Major Garret Albertson Sr. served with 2nd Regiment, Hunterdon Militia, New Jersey Militia during the American Revolution.

The son Garret was appointed administrator of his father's estate, June 17, 1760, by his Excellency, Francis Benward, Esq. Captain-General and Governor-in-Chief of the Colony of New Jersey. Garret married Elizabeth Reynolds in 1761. He died August 12, 1813. They resided on the old family plantation near the village of Hope, Warren Co. NJ. He was a man of integrity and honor. He served his country faithfully and well, in both the French and Indian and Revolutionary Wars. (See his Journal). His autobiography is herewith published. He and his wife are buried in the old Union Cemetery, above Hope, NJ.
