Thomas was born about 1760. He was the son of Benjamin Adkins and Eve Morris. He had 9 children
Thomas joined Captain John Templeton's company of militia in 1777 in South Carolina. while under Col. Linsey repairing a bridge the British had destroyed, he and about 200 other men were taken prisoner. Weapons had not been issued to keep the powder dry. he was a pow for about 6 months before him and others escaped. He served three years and received a discharge from Gen Green at the end of the revolutionary war.
Thomas passed away in 1845.
