Capt. Moses Adams was born on 4 August 1731 in Medway, Norfolk County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Daniel Adams and Sarah Sanford.
On 12 June 1758 Moses, at age 26, married Rachel Leland, at age 21, daughter of Daniel Leland and Mary Death, in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Adams (1898) has their marriage occurring in 1756.

Moses Adams of Medway was an office during the Revolutionary War, serving as 1st Lieutenant and commander of a company in Col. John Smith's regiment, commanded by Maj. J. Fuller, which marched on the alarms of April 19 and April 30, 1775, and as the Captain of the 9th company, Col. Ephraim Wheelock's Suffolk County regiment in 1776, and as a Captain in Col. Benjamin Hawes's 4th Suffolk County regiment in 1777, and as succeeding Captain of the (late) Ezekiel Plimpton's company, Col. Eleazer Brooks's regiment in December of that year and the next 3 months, and a Captain of a company in Maj. Seth Bullard's 4th Suffolk County regiment in 1780.

He died on Tuesday, 5 September 1815 in Medway, at age 84 years, 1 month and 1 day.
He left a will on 7 November 1815 in Medway, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
