John S. Adams' father was the second son of Jonathan and his older brother, Jonathan, died young, and he inherited all the real estate. The name of his (father's) wife is not certainly known, but she was probably Mary, daughter of Peter Covenhoven. For a discussion of the question, see Vol. 80, page 245, of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record. His father had his estate re-surveyed in 1767, and in 1770 conveyed equal parts of it to his sons John, Jonathan, and Elijah. His father did not leave a will; so the names of his daughters are unknown. His farm lay between what is known as the Delilah Road and the School House Road, extending from Jonathan’s Thoroughfare, which derived its name from him, to the New Road.
John S. Adams was born in Great Egg Harbor about 1733. He married Margaret Garwood, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Ballinger) Garwood. John S. Adams served as an Ensign in Capt. George Payne's Company during the Revolution. He received one-third of his father's plantation by deed of gift in 1770 (original in possession of the writer). A number of deeds and surveys to which he was a party are of record. The record of the births of his children is found in a Bible that was a few years ago in the possession of Mrs. Clara Bryant of Atlantic City. It is a Lake Bible and doubtless this family record was transcribed by Abigail (Adams) Lake, wife of John Lake. His will is dated August 25, 1797, and was proved April 17, 1798. Though he did not mention his wife, she survived him many years, living in the family of her son-in-law, John Lake. She died April 29, 1825.

I removed sarah boice as wife because he was never married to her. It must be another John Adams as there were several around the area at the same time. The adams family was huge. You can find a record for this on ancestry.com at the following link
