On 31 May 1756 Isaac Acree sold to Wiliam Acree for ten pounds, 200 acres being part of a 640 acre grant to Isaac located on the south side of Six Pound Creek and Sherin's and Walker's lines in Granville County, North Carolina.[5][6]

William Acree appears on the tax lists of Granville County, North Carolina in 1760 and 1761.[7]

On 07 Nov 1763 in Granville County, North Carolina he and Edward Durham signed as a witnesses on a deed wherein John Harris sold 475 acres on Jordan's Branch in Thompson's line to John Shearin's line, Isaac and William Acree's line, to William Colclough for 150 pounds.[8]

On 16 Nov 1768 William and Isaac Acree gave oath in Bute County, North Carolina proving a deed of sale by William and Elizabeth Ellis to Charles Darnell that they had witnessed.[9]

On 09 Feb 1770 in Bute County, North Carolina court, Isaac and William Acree witnessed the deed of William Ellis to Charles Darnald both of Bute County, North Carolina.[10]

On 15 Feb 1770 the Bute County, North Carolina Court ordered that the following hands to wit, the hands of Charles Kimball, Charles White, James Phillips, John Shearing, Isaac Acre, William Acre, John Colclough, and William Colclough work on the road whereof John Moseley is Overseer and to assist him in clearing and keeping the said road in repair.[9]

William was a Patriot during the Revolutionary War, he and Isaac Acree took an Oath of Allegiance in 1775-6, from Captain Colclough's district (Oaths were taken by Captain James Paine, J.P.) in Bute County, North Carolina.[13][14][15]

Bute County, North Carolina,Payne's District 1777 Tax List.[16]

He appears on the tax lists of Warren County, North Carolina for the years 1779, 1781, and 1785 (290 acres).[17]

On 06 Oct 1787 William Acree of Warren County, North Carolina sold to Mary Smelly for 110 pounds 290 acres of land on Jordan's branch in Warren County, North Carolina bordering the land of Colclough. Signed by William Acree and, by her mark, his wife Agnes.[2] By this record we know that William did not move, but rather when Bute County was abolished in 1779, the land he purchased there on Jorden's branch in 1770, became part of the newly formed county of Warren. As Bute itself was formed from Granville County in 1764, it is possible William was in the same area the entire time as the county names and lines shifted around him.

William bought 500 acres 10 Nov 1789 on Broad River, Wilkes County, GA. He sold 300 acres 09 Oct 1793 on Broad River to Robert Allison.

William appears on the tax lists of Wilkes County, Georgia from 1790 to 1796 as follows:
