Will of Samuel Abell, Jr., St Mary's County, 7/1/1774-7/15/1777. Wife: Eleanor, use of water mill, etc. and 1/3 pt. of the residue of my personal estate. Grandson: Elisha Morgan, a negro girl named Sarah; if she dies before Elisha comes of age, he is to get another negro of not less than 13 years of age. Grandson: Bennet Wimsatt, one likely negro girl of not less an 13 years old, when he arrives at the age of 18 and not before. No accounts from my books shall be claimed against any of my daughters' husbands. Sons: Samuel and Robert (Execs.), all the remaining balance of my real estate and personal estate. Wit.: John Abell, Sr., Thomas Abell, Arthur Abell. CODICIL, 7/21/1774: Sons to have liberty to sell 4 negroes named Ned, Sam, Boss, and Dick or Tom to pay my debts. Same witnesses as will.
