Private John Abbott RWS served with 3rd Regiment, Hunterdon Militia, New Jersey Militia during the American Revolution.

John Abbott was born 4 Jan 1759 [1] in (maybe) West Amwell, Hunterdon, New Jersey. [citation needed] His parents were William Abbott and Catherine Prall. [citation needed]

In 1793, John was Executor for the Will of his father, William, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. [2]

He married Alice Akers on February 12, 1779. [citation needed] It is through his wife's pension application that we learn John fought in the American Revolutionary War. [1]

In 1830, he lived in West Amwell, not found, Tewkesbury, Hunterdon, New Jersey, USA. [3] [4]

John was awarded a pension and his statement was signed by him, 15 Aug 1832. And, in 1832, John stated that he lived in Amwell all his life, except for about seven years in Pennsylvania, about 30 years ago. [1]

He continued Tewkesbury in 1840, then age 82. [5] [6]

John Abbott died 26 Jul 1840 in Hunterdon, New Jersey, USA. A Memorial Stone for descendants is in the Second English Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Amwell, Hunterdon, New Jersey. [1] [7] [8]
