PERMELIA ABBOT, b. at Concord, 1 Feb 1796 daughter of Benjamin Abbot and Sarah Brown;[1] d. at Pewaukee, WI, 1872;[2] m. at Concord, 7 Nov 1816,[3] NATHANIEL GOSS, b. at Greenland, NH, 3 Nov 1788 son of Nathaniel and Mary (Nye) Goss;[4] Nathaniel d. at Pewaukee, 7 Jul 1855.
Permelia and Nathaniel had their four children in New Hampshire, but Nathaniel lost his property in New Hampshire and the family with four adolescent children headed to Wisconsin.[5] In 1850, Nathaniel and Permelia were in Pewaukee in the home of their son B. F. Goss with son N. S. Goss also in the home.[6]
Son Nathaniel Stickney Goss married but was early widowed and had no children. In his will written 22 August 1889 (probate 13 March 1891), he made bequests related to his extensive bird collection donating his specimens to the State of Kansas. Following detailed instructions related to this bequest, he directs that the remainder of the estate be sold, held in trust, and that semi-annual payments of the interest be made to his three siblings: sister Mrs. Sarah L. Clark and her husband T. L. Clark of Neosho Falls, Kansas, sister Mrs. Mary N. Waterman and her husband J. H. Waterman of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and brother Captain B. F. Goss and his wife Abby B. Goss of Pewaukee, Wisconsin.[7]

iv NATHANIEL STICKNEY GOSS, b. at Lancaster, NH, 7 Jun 1826; d. at Neosho Falls, KS, 10 Mar 1891; m. at Waukesha, WI, 26 Oct 1854, his first cousin, EMELINE F. “EMMA” BROWN, b. in New Hampshire, about 1834 daughter of William J. and Lydia Emeline (Goss) Brown; Emma d. at Waverly, IA, 1856. Nathaniel Stickney Goss was known as the Kansas Audubon for his extensive identification and collection of bird species.[8]
