Show your skills doing what we do best: adding dashes of love to WikiTree. Choose a neglected profile and give it a new and improved look. Show us your creativity!

Join this fun challenge where you'll have the whole month to calmly research, source, write a biography and embellish a profile with no pressure.

How to participate:

 1. Answer this post with a link to the profile that you will improve this month and share something about why you chose it (this may give others ideas on how to choose!) and what are your main goals and challenges about this makeover.
 2. Take a "Before" screenshot of the profile you have chosen and upload your image to the Profile Makeover Gallery
 3. Add the profile ID and (before) in the title of your image
 4. Make over your profile! A few examples of things to add to a profile are:
 5. Upload your "After" screenshot when you're done.

You don’t have to be an experienced WikiTreer to participate!

There is no judging or ranking, just showcasing and a great opportunity to learn new tricks for all!

At the end of the month, we will gather the profiles listed on this post and create a space page to show off the "After" profiles.

See what our participants have achieved

Every participant and every madeover profile gets the Profile Makeover sticker.

This looks fun! I'll work on the profile for my great uncle, Fidel Montoya. No particular reason, it's just one on my to do list that could us some updates. I'm on mobile, so I'll add a before screenshot to the gallery when I get to the computer.

by P Whittington G2G6 Mach 2 (22.2k points)
Hi P! Welcome to the challenge, happy makeover! I hope you have fun

Fun! I'll makeover the profile of Guy Heathcote. His profile doesn't have any sources, and compared to the decked out profile of his sister-in-law Dr. Mary Pogue, it could definitely use a lift.

by U Swanson G2G6 (7.1k points)
Great to have you in, U! I see, you did a great job with Mary, I can't wait to see your results with Guy. Have fun!

For this month I'll choose my 3rd great-grandfather José Gustavo Portales Aliaga. In previous months I have dashed with lots of love his wife Rosario and his father Manuel, so... 1) it's only fair that I do this profile 2) it'll be easier to work since a lot of the research is already done!

I would like to have a go at this - it will be my first one. I have chosen my Grandmother who I miss dearly. Goode-620

My goal is to flesh her profile out with information and sources linking information I know to records.
by Elayine Julian G2G6 Mach 1 (18.9k points)
Welcome Elayine! I hope you had fun on your first makeover, I can see all the love and care you put on it.
I did have fun - looking forward to doing another next time

I will work on the profile of my 4x GGF, Philip Jacob Morningstar. He was the Patriot I used to join DAR so I need to add a lot of info to his profile.

by Elayine Julian G2G6 Mach 1 (18.9k points)
Not silly at all! I'll PM your sticker now that you've finished. Congrats! I hope you enjoyed the challenge

I'm going to take a go at this. I will be working on my Great Grandmother https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ellars-18. I chose her because she's one of those ancestors I had to work on. A lot of my recent family tree, I already had a couple of people to easily request information about them. Not this branch of the family. It is one of the branches I have actually had to work on. It seems right to me to gather the scattered information that I know and put it into one combined profile. That would make things neater.
by Seth Wickham G2G4 (4.9k points)
That's great Seth! I hope you have a great time throughout this makeover. For my first challenge I chose my 3rd great-grandmother who I knew nothing about, I only had some sources and she was a brickwall! I ended up finding her parents and siblings, and it turned out her husband was an influential man... really interests findings thanks to this challenge.

I will participate in this challenge!  I will improve the page of my 3rd great-grandmother Anna Andersdotter-13166 (Anna Andersdotter (1803-1888)).

I don't know how to upload a photo file to this message.  I learned once, but forgot and can't find the help file.  I did upload the image to the profile makeover gallery.

Thank you for joining Kimberly, welcome! I see you uploaded your before picture to the image gallery so, have a happy makeover! Remember to upload your after photo when you're done.

My 3rd great-grandmother Anna Andersdotter was probably very beautiful.  Her father was the son of wealthy farmer and her mother was a poor servant in his household.  She grew up on a cottar's place on her grandparent's estate in Drangedal, in lower Telemark.  She married the fisherman Andreas Pehrson and lived with him on the beautiful, rocky, windswept islands Dyngön and Värderörarna, off the coast of Fjällbacka, from 1833 to 1852.  Värderörana is now a nature reserve.  From 1852 until late in her life, Anna and Andreas lived on the beach in Fjällbacka.  She died in the poorhouse in 1888.  My biography is too long to be captured in a single screenshot.  I hope someone enjoys reading it!  Anna Andersdotter

I'll join this challenge. I chose my great grandmother Eliza Jane Drinnin. The profile had been locked for years by a cousin and recently unlocked. I'm looking forward to improving her biography.

I'd like to try this to get more familiar with how to do things on this site.  I'll work on Weekley-380 because he has a couple of funny anectdotes in his life. I'm having some problems getting the screenshot into the gallery -- can anyone tell me how to do it?

Hi Lyn! Welcome, I hope you have a nice, calm and rich learning experience throughout this challenge. Have fun!
Hi Lyn, your "before" screenshot is already in the gallery, so I guess you're having trouble with your "after". If you prefer, send me a private message describing the issue.

A little tip: if your profile is too long to fit in 1 screenshot, try 1) zooming out your screen, and/or 2) taking various screenshots as you scroll down.
(After reading all available, and conflicting, instructions) I actually resorted to making it a pdf.  Can't see a thing.  Can you point me toward how to do?

I'll be working on my Great Aunt Priscilla Moore (Moore-5520) whose grandfather helped with the underground railroad.  It was a GED-COM file I adopted since she was family.

Mary Jane Vernon
ago by Alice Thomsen G2G6 Pilot (240k points)

...And this would be your May's profile. That's great Alice, thank you for joining the challenge. Enjoy!

Remember to share before and after photos so we can all see the transformation! wink

Vicki How do I get before and after photos?

Hi Alice! Before you start to makeover your selected profile for the month, you should take a screenshot and save it in your computer. Then, upload it to the challenge.
I'm assuming you´re a Windows user.
If that's the case, in this video you can see different methods to take the screenshot. I hope this helps!

Vicki thank you very much and for the video. Some reason my new Windows 11 is not responding to any of those suggestions. I will give a try from my husbands computer.

If none of these methods worked, you could just print/export your profile page as a .pdf file (see this video) and then upload that file to the image gallery.

It will look like this in the gallery.
