Advice before editing this pre-1700 McWhorter profile?

Question

I have information to contribute to the profile of John McWhorter. This is what I can add:

• Birth location, death date and location, add spouse, 

These are the sources I am using:

• Family Search

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Hi Eric. "Family Search", or a FamilySearch tree, is not a suitable source for a pre–1700 profile. See

Could you please let us know exactly what the source or sources you propose to use will say?

The Family Search file at least can give more data on certain items than what I first put in when this profile was made through the basic info from Ancestry that I belonged to at that time. I was a beginner so did not know hoe to use Ancestry at that time except to follow family trees. My mother-in-law was a McWhorter so I followed the ckan from father to father into Scotland. I would like to add what little I can find to my married relationship even if I can't find much on Internet. This additional info will only give more accurate dates and locations.

Thanks for the link, Eric. Sorry but as a FamilySearch tree with zero sources, that definitely does not meet the requirements for use as a source on a pre–1700 profile.
