Hi all,

I'm looking for any help developing and verifying the ancestry of Abraham Henry "Abram" Fayerweather who was born c. 1812 in New Canaan, Connecticut and died on 7 November 1850 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the son of Richard and Hannah (Richards) Fayerweather. Hannah was said in a newspaper article to have been the sister of a Rev. James Richards and A. N. S. Richards, "well known in the commercial world of Liverpool, New York and Savannah in the early 30's." Hannah's FamilySearch profile is here, but her alleged parents have no sons James or "A. N. S." (may possibly be Abraham). Richard's alleged parents John and Mary have no reliable sources listed on their profiles.

Abraham was ancestral to the prominent Chinese/Hawaiian/English Afong family of Honolulu which left numerous descendants and whose profiles I am currently working on. As much as possible, I've linked to sources in his profile.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Another Fayerweather researcher!  Sorry, I have no help for you.  I was just surprised that I just started looking at Capt. John Fairweather and then I see your post.

Best of luck. If I run into help I will send it your way.

There is the following entry for the Fayerweather family in New Canaan,

Abraham, s. Richard, bp. Sept. 26, 1812, by Rev. J. Richards, D.D.

Connecticut State Records: New Canaan Church, 1733-1789 (Connecticut State Library; 1931), p. 182.

On the same page are the following other entries (among others):

Hannah, w. Richard, adm. church full communion, Dec. 7, 1806, recom. by Mr. of Stanford.

Hannah Richards, d. Richard, bp. Mar. 9.1817, "presented by his mother."

On the next page is the following:

Richard, of Norwalk, m. Hannah Richards, Dec. 11, 1803, by Rev. Justus Mitchell.

Thank you, Roger. Will be adding this source to their profiles.
I am still fixated on why I can't find anything on William Jefferson Gray (grin).
