I'm a professional genealogist specializing in religious records, particularly within the Jewish and Roman Catholic communities of Poland and the United States. I also work a lot with the Great Lakes region of the United States, particularly the Polish communities of Wisconsin, and the Polish and Kashubian communities of West Prussia/Pomerania.
My US ancestry ranges from colonial Virginia and South Carolina to 19th c. Georgia and Ohio, the Spanish colonial territories of New Mexico, to 20th c. Wisconsin and Illinois. Outside of the US, I also have British, Italian, and Polish heritage. Diaz is my married name and my husband's family is from Honduras.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you want to get to know each other.

Hi WikiTree! I'm Bev Diaz. I was born in Chicago, raised in South Carolina, and I've lived in and around Philadelphia since I went to Temple University. I was an undergraduate student in religious studies, did a master's at Union Theological Seminary in New York City in medieval religious history, studied Latin, Hebrew, and German, and generally learned as much as I could. During that time I got married, and though I thought I would stay in academia, my children came along and changed my plans! Due to some health concerns, I stayed home with my children and we were pre-Covid homeschoolers. I'm passing on my love of dead languages and all things esoteric.
They are almost grown up now so I've decided to turn my favorite hobby into a profession. I've been taking courses through the International Institute for Genealogical Studies and have six courses left to finish the Advanced Certificate. At that point I will start the process to become a certified genealogist. My specialty is finding, interpreting, and translating religious records, particularly among Jewish and Catholic communities (but I'm also very comfortable with various Protestant denominations). I am accepting requests from other researchers or genealogists who need a records agent in the Philadelphia area (particularly Deleware County). I'm also accepting new research clients. Message me here with any inquiries and rates.
I also have a lot of fun doing the various WikiTree Challenges. Right now, I'm working on the 16 for 16 Challenge to celebrate WikiTree's 16th Anniversary. Additionally, I've taken responsibility for some orphaned profiles that do not have any relationship to my family or my research. I came across them while I was sourcing or data doctoring (if that can be used as a verb) and as I worked on them, I found their stories and connections so compelling I had to continue my research. If you have any relationship with families I've adopted please get in touch with me and I'll pass transfer it to you.
I have been doing genealogy for several decades but I am fallible and there are always new things to learn and new sources of evidence. Please use my work as clues to furthering your research but not as evidence in and of itself. Information provided by me or attached to profiles I manage are sourced and updated to the best of my ability but any errors in the genealogical information contained on my pages are, of course, accidental. If you find a source that contradicts something I have posted feel free to edit any open profiles or message me.
In the event of my death, I would like all of the profiles for people not living that I manage alone to be made available for adoption by anyone interested. Also, if any project or space pages are just in my name, they need to be turned over to the appropriate project or changed to open. For the still living profiles on my Watchlist, I ask that they be managed by my husband Nelson Diaz, or if he is unwilling or unable to, then assigned to others at the discretion of WikiTree.
