Note: See Space:Virginia Peter Joneses#Locations for details. His the birth location in the datafield was "Charles City, Henrico County", but it wasn't. More research is needed, but I believe the family's holdings covered both Henrico County and Charles City County at this time. Both counties were served by Bristol Parish, which was formed in 1643, and later generations are found in the Bristol Parish Register (1720-1789).
before August 12, 1718 (named as deceased in his mother's will of that date)
Abraham Jones is one of four known children of Peter Jones and his wife Margaret. He is named in the 1682 will of Abraham Wood as one of four Jones "grandchildren in law" (Abraham, Richard, Peter, and William).[8]
His mother names Peter, son of son Abraham Jones deceased, in her 1718 will (written 12 August 1718).[9]
Research Notes
Estimated Birth: Before 1682 is known. 1680 is not unreasonable based on his siblings' birth years. "2 Jun 1662" (in the datafield as of 13 April 2023) is unsourced. Considering his marriage to Martha Batte before 1685 (when their son Peter was born) and death before 1687, when Martha remarried, he had to have been born earlier. Martha's profile has her birthe year as 1667, so 16662 is not unreasonable (albeit unsourced) and still has him under 21 at the time of Abraham Wood's will.
I believe the four sons named as "grandchildren in law" by Abraham Wood in his 1682 will were "infant" children[10] of Peter and Margaret and "in law" was because he was their guardian. Unsourced profiles had the birth years of siblings Richard and Abraham as 1672 and 1680, respectively. Their father Peter is said to have been born about 1634, so that fits. A 1655 marriage is attributed to Peter and Margaret, but that record may be for another couple. Peter is known to have died before Abraham wrote his will, some say the year before, some say earlier, but all of his children would have been born before 1682.[8]
Research Notes
This profile was attached as son of a duplicate for Peter Jones's wife Margaret. It had born 1660, died 1661. It is possible they had a child who died young named Wood, but it's more likely this profile was intended to be for their son Abraham Wood Jones (most all of the profiles created in this duplicate trail for children had only a couple of years between birth and death - perhaps a quirk of the gedcom source).

Jones-38496 and Jones-8758 appear to represent the same person because: Jones-38496 was created in a gedcom upload, attached to a duplicate profile for Margaret. Please merge. Thanks!
Jones-8758 and Jones-38499 appear to represent the same person because: same name/dates & attached to duplicate profiles for mother. please merge. thanks!
Jones-38491 and Jones-8758 appear to represent the same person because: when he was born isn't known, but these two profiles are both representing Abraham, son of Peter (who died before 1682) & Margaret (with a 1718 will, saying son Abraham was desceased). Please merge. Thanks!
I find the marriage to Martha Batte interesting. On one hand it is said that Abraham Wood had died abt. 5 December 1689 in Charles City Co., Virginia, but on the other had it is said that Martha remarried John Banister by April 1687 that doesn't make since. That would mean that Abraham Wood had died prior to April 1687 NOT 1689. Does anyone have proof to the marriage of John Banister and Martha Batte Widow of Abraham Wood. And is there any proof to the death year for Abraham Wood in 1698. Something is wrong with these dates and needs to be changed.
Abraham died before 3 December 1689 when the Charles City County court granted Thomas Wynne a judgement against the estate of Abraham Jones, deceased. Martha was by then the wife of Rev. John Banister. They had married before April 1687 when William Byrd I in a letter to English horticulturist, Jacob Bobart, told him Banister had married a "young widow."
Jones-16780 and Jones-8758 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate profiles for son of Peter and Margaret. Death dates are compatible - Dec. 5, 1689 is before the 1718 date ("before 1718" is based on his mother's will in which he was named as deceased. Please merge. Thanks!
this profile had the wrong generation Peter attached as his father (I changed it to Peter Jones-8084, one of the profiles for Margaret's husband Peter)
Jones-24165 and Jones-8763 appear to represent the same person because: Hi! Not sure where the dates before 1692/1694 came from, but these profiles are both for Abraham Jones who married Martha Batte - m maybe about 1685 (there were at least two Jones children)... Abraham died before 1687 because his widow was married to Banister by then (see Banister-59). The "died before December 1689" date is based on court documentation (see link in messages on Jones-8763). Bottom line - please merge, but be sure to keep dates from Jones-8763 (keep "Abraham Wood" also). Thanks!
Jones-8770 and Jones-8763 appear to represent the same person because: Jones-8763 is lowest number profiles for this Abraham, son of Peter & Margaret, who married Martha Batte. Please merge. Thanks!

A father's death date (Jones-6845 died 1675) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Jones-38491 born 1680) .
