[1]Notes for Anthony Hall by Jesse Hall and used with his permission to family researcher, Dan Buckley:

Ida-Rose Hall, who searched records in Pickaway Co., OH and Jefferson Co., WV, says that apparently Anthony had a military grant for his land, which he received 25 Apr 1809. Although we have no information that he served in the Continental Army, he was of suitable age. But he could have purchased a grant from a veteran who did not care to move to Ohio. Many veterans sold their grants. It seems that all of his children accompanied or followed him to Ohio. The Scioto Gazette and Chilicothe Advertizer, Monday, 24 Apr 1809, published a long list of persons for whom mail was waiting at the Post Office. Anthony and John Hall were on this list. (Pioneer Ohio Newspapers 1793 - 1810 Karen Mauer Green).

Anthony's will was written 12 Sep 1821, nearly five years before his death. He gave all his plantation and the moveable estate to his wife, Rachel, for her support as long as she lived. (She died before him in 1823). After his death, the movable estate was to be sold and the proceeds divided among his five daughters, allowance to be made for property they bad already received. Joseph, the oldest, as executor, was to dispose of the plantation and the grist mill and divide the proceeds with his four brothers "as he may think proper". (No mention of a saw mill or distillery.) Money remaining after debts bad been paid was to be divided among his four sons, that is, Joseph's brothers.

This seems to mean that Joseph received less than his brothers. Had he already been given some property, perhaps the saw mill and distillery? (The latter was important because whiskey, not coffee or tea, was the common table beverage.) It is fortunate that Anthony gave the married names of his daughters. The will was probated 06 June 1825. Anthony and Rachel are buried in McLane Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Pickaway Co., OH.

There are different Y haplogroups shown in this profile. James Joseph Hall is my uncle and matches H. Tracy Hall Jr son of H. Tracy Hall. Tracy and I have a common ancestor in Anthony Hall son of William Hall (1702-1764). Both tests were done by the same company, GenTree, prior to 2012. Both results were the same “…predicted Y-DNA Haplogroup is: R-M207 Subgroup: R1b1b2-M269.” Assuming the paternal line for Steven Hall is correct through William Hall (bef.1651-1727) there is an error in the paternal line past William Hall (1702-1764). Either Thomas Hall (1672-1717) is not William Hall (1702-1764) father, or William Hall (bef.1651-1727) is not Thomas Hall (1672-1717) father.
