Elizabeth enlisted with the Army Nursing Corps. She was stationed in German, France and England during World War II; and also served during the Korean War. She was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
She subsequently worked as a nurse in the Syracuse Catholic School System for many years.
Elizabeth passed away on 23 Apr 2010 in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York.[2] She was buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt, Onondaga, New York.[3]
Research Notes
Find a Grave has posted an incorrect date of birth for Elizabeth. Numerous documents (including her birth certificate) and newspaper articles show that Elizabeth was born on 9 Jul 1916, and that she was the twin sister of Sister Mary Catherine Burns (born Patricia Margaret Burns).
