William was born in 1821. William Brown ... He passed away in 1875.[1]
William and Mary and their family are in the 1871 census in 196, Main Street, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire. The children with them are Cocentry, 15, a shopkeeper, Alfred, 7, a scholar and Susannah, 5. All the children are said to have ben born in Cambusnethan, but so is William Brown, whoch contraicts his marriage record.
Mary is in the 1881 census in 3, Reids Land, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, with the three children. She is a widow and is a housekeeper. Coventry, is 24, a bricklayer, and his place of birth has been changed to Pencaitland, Haddingtonshire (East Lothian).
Alfred, 17, is now also a bricklayer and Susannah is now called Susan, is 15,and is a milliner's apprentice. (Find My Past 1881 census [1]
