Biography
John was born about 1785 in Longtown, Cumberland, England. [1]
On 19 July 1809, at the age of about 24, John married Sarah Elliot in Arthuret, Cumberland, England. [2]
Sarah and the children lived on Main Street in Arthuret, Longtown district, Cumberland at the time of the 1841 census. She was a Baker. John was not listed. [3]
Census records for 1851 and 1861 show John and Sarah living on High Street in Longtown, Cumberland. John was working as an Agricultural Labourer in 1851 and a House Labourer in 1861. [1] [4]
Sarah died in about 1863. [5]
In 1871, John and his daughter Mary Ann continued to reside on High Street in Longtown. The Census indicates that he was formerly a Baker. [6]
John died about 1876 in Longtown, Cumberland, England at the age of 92. [7]
