"The Order Books of Caroline County show that the Chandler family was prominent in the life of the county as early as 1734. In Order Book, No. 1, (1732-1740) page 149, mention is made of the deeds of land of Timothy Chandler and Justin, his wife. On page 518 of the same book is recorded an order 'That Robert Woolfolk, Timothy Chandler and Moses Hart (or Hurt) lay off the most convenient road from the Mattapoini River across Polecat Swamp to Chesterfield church." [2]
