The Parish of Prestonkirk in the County of Haddington death register entry for Marion Whitelaw records that she died on Monday, February 10, 1862, at East Linton, age sixty-seven. The entry also informs us that she was single; her father was Archibald Whitelaw, a ploughman; her mother was Marion Whitelaw (deceased), formerly Turnbull; she died from paralysis; illness lasted a few years; and her death was certified by Wm MacKay, surgeon. The birth was reported by brother Archibald Whitelaw of Prestonpans on Tuesday, February 11, 1862, at East Linton to registrar Thomas Findlay.
