Mary Way, daughter of John Way and Mary Snell, was born on 07 Apr 1811 in North Tawton, Devonshire, England. She died on 08 Feb 1861 in Wendron, Cornwall, England.

Mary first married William Lang (1809–1831) on 21 March 1830 at North Tawton, Devon.[1] They had two children:
- John Lang 1830–1836
- Mary Lang 1832–1865
Mary secondly married William Smith Dawe (1810 - 1877) at St Andrew, Plymouth on 9 March 1835.Both were of the parish. William signed his name but Mary Lang made her mark. Witnesses were Nathaniel Daw and Tamzen Daw.[2]
