Biography
John Turnbull was born in about 1791 in Scotland (according to the 1841 Census), perhaps in Edrom, Berwickshire. His father was (probably) John. He married Ann Wilson on October 31, 1813, in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They had several children including Margaret, apparently the oldest (born 1819). He died on 7 November 1853, in Newcastle Upon Tyne and was buried in Westgate Hill General Cemetery.
At the time of the 1841 Census, he was Assistant Surveyor of Dean Forest (i.e. the Forest of Dean).
