William was the son of Joseph Steevens and Alice Harris of Chipping Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.[1] He was born on 20 July 1708 at Chipping Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.[2]
On 20 September 1733 William married Rachel Fowler, daughter of Henry Fowler of Shutford, mercer, at Shutford Quaker Meeting House, Oxfordshire. The marriage record of Banbury Quaker Monthly Meeting describes him as an apothecary and surgeon of Northend, Oxfordshire.[3]
