Biography

Sarah was born in 1784 in Beaverdam Creek, Wilkes County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Nathan Smith and Sarah Foster.

Sarah passed away 1 Sep, 1813 during the battle of Fort Sinquefield. She was scalped by Creek Indians during their attack on Ft. Sinquefield. [1]

She was married first to a Boswell or Buswell and had several children with him. Those children became orphans when she was killed and her second husband, Charles Phillips Jr. raised them, as well as Sarah's and his, after her death. Her father, Nathan mentions her being deceased and her husband, Charles Jr. in his will written in 1814. [2]

the Sarah Phillips mentioned in the 6/8/2019 note states that she was still alive in 1830 and 1840, but the Will of Nathan Smith clearly indicates this Sarah is no longer around and leaves children, indicating that she is deceased.

There is a legend that she was the Sarah Phillips killed at Fort Sinquefield by the Red Stick warriors in 1812, but it does not appear to be the same Sarah Phillips at all, just someone with a similar name, because she was in eastern GA at the time, not western AL. Also she was alive after 1840 in GA.
