Neil grew up in Rozelle NSW, known as Balmain West until a new Post Office was built in 1892. It was an industrial area with the attendant pollution. Soot from the railway yards, and power stations, and smells from the various chemical works were particularly noticeable. Trams were still running via Harold Park and Forest Lodge into the city. Before the new Iron Cove bridge opened on 30 July 1955, a child could still ride a scooter down Victoria Road as long as you avoided getting stuck in the tram tracks, because there was very little traffic outside of peak times.
Neil began his schooling at Rozelle Central school in 1952 and in 1960 enrolled in the new Ibrox Park Boy's High, overlooking the old Balmain Cemetery. I began my working life in 1965 at Dunlop [Perdriau's] Drummoyne, and studied for a Chemistry Certificate at Sydney Technical College part time. Later I worked for Chemical Materials at Glebe, and retired in 2007 from Nuplex Industries Ltd.
Recording the family history started about 1997, prompted by a project Natalie did that year on the Sherriff family and home, as part of course. Cousin Nat Owles had already done a large amount of work on the Lovell and Gallard family trees. Peggy Lovell (nee Thompson) provide advice and a disc for the Small Family. Cousin Lionel Lovell gave me a disc containing his family tree using PAF5, which I then adopted, switching to Rootsmagic7 [2018] and recently upgrading to RM9, as my main software.
I was guided by a lot of absorbed childhood memories, but required the purchase of many certificates (before I discovered Transcriptions) to verify them. Luckily the Smith names followed a Scottish pattern and included spouse family names, which made tracking easier. Luck again was with me with the Patterson family tree, which I obtained from Patricia Hayward, also great grandmother's Fyfe family from Sandra Rea and Sue Pollock. In 2009 my neighbour Fran suggested I investigate Trove and this lead me to the McCallum family with whom the Smith's had friendships and several marriages. It was Jean Little who suggested I investigate Wikitree. A large number of other distant relatives have also contributed heaps, including Jeffrey Smith.
For Lyn's side her siblings, Barbara Nutz, Bryan Burdett, Narelle Ross and others have contributed generously.
As of 19 December 2021 I had 8,894 profiles on my "watchlist." Wikitree recommends no more than 5,000 so the project for 2022 was to add FamilySearch references and to reduce profiles watched to less than 5,000 without compromising data integrity.

I noticed you have been busy adding many sources to Wikitree profiles. Are you aware of the Guide for Australian Sources produced by The Australia Project team? It is a great resource and includes information about many kinds of Australian sources and has examples which show how these might be properly formatted. You will find it here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Australia%2C_Sources_and_Citation_Examples Regards, Susan
The link in John Gunter (1778-1843) no longer works, can you have a look and see if you can correct it please The same link is in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/22065526

Thank you for the comment on Barassi-4 even thru you deleted it. It promoted me to do an update. I hope I have done him justice. Originally the profile was created as part of one of my first projects and I have learnt a lot since then.
Thanks again Amanda

Re merge of Wilva Keast (Howard-23759) and Wilva Howard (Howard-20458)., I've actioned this, I've inadvertantly created duplicate profiles in the past, it's always a pain, Wikitree has good systems to avoid duplicates, but it only takes a small discrepency to defeat them.

I just wanted to let you know that I have cleaned up the profiles of Frank and Matthew Garrard by adding some sources, categories and references, as well as arranging all the information a little better so it is easier to read.
I am wondering if you have ever considered yourself to be a potential profile or biography writer. I know you have good knowledge of these people and are also good at finding information. It is actually kind of fun and a good way to learn more about people.
