Biography

Maria was born in 1847, the daughter of Joseph Schmitt and Mary Pequignot. She married James Cordell on June 3, 1869. They had one child, Jane, during their marriage. She died on August 13, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 79, and was buried in Elgin, Illinois.

Her birth record states she was born in 1847; though her headstone reads 1845
