Biography
Margaret SINCLAiR was born in Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1828 [1]. Her parents were Samual SINCLAIR, m Elizabeth ??.
She married Dugald McCallum on 6th March 1846 at Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland, whens he was aged 18 years, and Dugald was aged 21 years.
They went on to have 13 children, with 6 born in Scotland UK, and 7 born in Victoria Aust.
She travelled to Victoria on the "Star of the East" with 5 of their children, Jessie, Dugald, Thomas, Danial and Helen (starting lines 3874 ), following her husband who arrived in Victoria in 1856? on <ship?>. She also travelled with her mother, Elizabeth SINCLAIR [2]. They travelled as Unassisted Passengers on a voyage of 140 days ex Liverpool 21 Oct 1856, and arrived Melb. The vessel was 1239 tons, with licenced capacity for 289 persons on board, and loaded with 274 souls, making 246 statute adults. Two births and 2 deaths occurred on the voyage.
Dugald appears to have come to Victoria in abt 1856 when aged about 31, according to info in his death cert.
The couple were together for 36 years, until Dugald died. Margaret lived until 1908. She appears to have lived in Sandridge (Port Melbourne) VIC for nearly all their time in Victoria.
Margaret died at Port Melbourne VIC in 1908, aged 79 years [3].
