In 1881 he was age 14 and living with his parents and brother at Stonar Cut, on the Sandwich Road, (previously in the parish of Minster in Thanet, now in Ash next Sandwich) Kent, England. He was working as a shepherd's boy. His father was an engineer on a steam tug.[2]
In 1891 he was age 23 and living with his wife and two sons in St George the Martyr Southwark, Southwark, London, England. He was working as a railway engine fireman.[7]
In 1901 he was age 33 and living with his wife and children in Bexley, Kent, England. He was working as an engine driver.[8]
They immigrated to Canada in 1906 and settled in Alberta.
In 1911 Michael was living in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada with his wife and four children: Herbert H, Arthur R, Louisa M, and Reuben. He was working as a farmer.[9]
In 1916 he was age 49 and living in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada with his wife and four adult children: Herbert, Walter, Arthur and Reuben.[10]
In 1926 he was age 59 and living in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada with his wife.[11]
He died on 14 Jan 1948 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada.[12]
Obituary
Funeral services were held recently for Michael H. Sinclair, 81, of Rocky Mountain House, who died last week in hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Sinclair was born in Devon, England, and moved to Alberta in 1903. He lived in Medicine Hat and Calgary for several years prior to homesteading at Dovercourt where he had lived since.
Surviving are one son, Ralph, and one daughter, Mrs. H. Soderberg, both of Dovercourt. His wife died in 1927.

Research Notes
Stonar Cut was a hamlet (just a few houses) that was on the Sandwich Road, close to Richborough and Sandwich, Kent, about 5 miles from the village of Minster. It was previously covered by the parish of Minster, but now covered by Ash next Sandwich and is now mainly landfill.
