Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Danke Flo,

I would like to remain in the Germany project. I am slowly working away at family profiles in Württemberg, especially now that I have found a new family branch there. I learn a lot from reading the discussion amongst the project members who are are much more knowledgeable than me.

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi, Ian.

I'm a Davidson by heritage and have been researching for my ggf William Bell Davidson's family for about 60 years but nothing so far. I always run comparisons when I find a Bell or Davidson Gedmatch kit and that's what I did with your kit KH3674395. There is a 7.7 cM match on Chr 9 between 137,370,739 - 138,823,732. My brother's kit is XN2979471. I realize the match isn't earth shattering but it is a match; so, I have to ask ... do you know of any Davidsons in your line? My ggf was born, we believe, in Glasgow around 1850; immigrated to the US about 1870; married my ggm Mary Catherine Freed 31 Oct 1889 in Fort Smith, AR; had a son Ben Freed Davidson in Jan 1891 and died 30 Jul 1906 in Tamaha, Indian Territory (Oklahoma today). Would love to hear your thoughts. Barbara Davidson Norkus [email address removed]

Hello Barbara,

I think you meant to address this comment to me, Culley. I am truly a beginner with DNA work so don't really know how to compare the locations on the chromosomes to different family members. However, I am not a Bell, that is from my husband and I know of no Davidsons in my family. I also don't know of any Scottish ancestry on my side. I am guessing that the relationship is along another line. I had family in Missouri, and further back into Kentucky - names of Trent, Wood, Porter. My profile page lists all of my family surnames back 12 generations. Could these be any possibility? Culley

Hi Cully,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Lizzie, Amy, Joan

England Project Leaders

Hi Lizzie, Amy, and Joan, I am doing well, though not getting as much time as I would like on WikiTree. I completed the Orphan Trail 1 and have joined the BioBuilders Team. (Profile Improvement) Mostly I am working on family profiles which take me around various counties in England. I regularly am on Discord but only get on to the Google site occasionally. This is because of a conflict with Google accounts which I haven’t sorted yet. For myself, I enjoy learning about sources, etc that others have found useful. I don’t feel I have a lot to add yet as I am new to the team and less experienced. That will change with time.

Thanks, Culley

Hi, Cully!

Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Culley,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
