Biography
John was the son of Thomas Rowe and his wife Mary Rowe nee Gresham.
He married Rebecca Brandon on 26 April 1574 at St Vedast, Foster Lane London.[1] "Mr John Rowe, Esquier, and Rebecka Brandon was married the xxvi th day of April 1574".
In the Will of his mother, Dame Mary Rowe, which was made 21 March 1578 'my son John Rowe and his wife' are to have a black gown and their children are to have black coats for the boys and black gowns for the girls. John is also bequeathed 'certain plate and furniture'.
"John Rowe of Clapham Bedfordshire, Esquire" made his Will on 19 February 1584/5 in which he requested he be buried in the parish church of Clapham Bedfordshire and made bequests to: his wife (and executor) Rebecca; his three daughters (who were all under 21) - Elizabeth, Judith and Sara; his son - Thomas Rowe; his brother - Henry Rowe; his father-in-law - Robert Brandon; and reference was made to property in Hackney. Probate was granted on 2 November 1585.[2]
