Biography

George Clark Robertson was born 26 Feb 1874 in Lintrathen, Angus, Scotland, to Robert and Jessie Robertson.[1] Note that this date of birth is different from that used in the US for WWI draft registration and social security registration (February 29, 1876). Up through 1900 his year of birth was consistently given as 1874. By 1905 his year of birth was consistently given as 1876 and the date had shifted (from 26 to 29 February). (If you flip the 6 in the date to a 9, you get a date that can't happen in 1874 but could in 1876, so it would be an easy "correction" to make to a date).

George Clark was baptised 17 May 1874 in Lintrathen and Kingoldrum, Angus, Scotland. His parents were Robert Robertson and Jessie Robertson.[2]

His younger son did not know much about his father's past. He said he came from Blairgowrie, or that area. He said he was the youngest child of possibly nine. He thought he might have emigrated via Canada. He may have been born in Dundee, Scotland. He may have served in the British Army. He may have emigrated in 1894.[3]
