Hello I see you deleted the "United Kingdom" from Boothman-180, who lived in the 18th century. I am curious about the reasoning and how to handle such cases in the future.

I personally tend to use the term UK after 1701, because England and Scotland were already merged. You have changed the name to England, and this person was English, so I have no big concern. However for people concerned about official state names, who I do not want to irritate, I suppose the state this man lived in was no longer simply England. Just for example, Wikipedia has an article under the name Kingdom of Great Britain for the state between 1701 and 1801. It also adds: "The websites of the Scottish Parliament, the BBC, and others, including the Historical Association, refer to the state created on 1 May 1707 as the United Kingdom of Great Britain.[12] Both the Acts and the Treaty describe the country as "One Kingdom" and a "United Kingdom", leading some publications to treat the state as the "United Kingdom".[13] The term United Kingdom was sometimes used informally during the 18th century to describe the state." I am not asking for any particular edits or anything, but just wondering.

Hi - I am following guidelines here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Profile_Standards#Locations so United Kingdom is fine after 1801 and Great Britain is fine for the century prior to the UK.

Hello W,

Thank you for your comment.

I use 'Find my Past' since i need access to the 1921 census, as you are probably aware there is a big problem in getting the information from a family tree on 'FmP' to wikitree. The GEDCOM i use is now nealy 30 years old, apparently i am the only person on wikitree who stores their family tree on 'FmP' - so i suppose i can not expect any changes to be made just for me.

The same is true for the app which you mention 'Sourcer', it worked for a little time, although does not work at present.

It was recommended to me that i duplicate all sources and that did work for some time.

Thank you for your helpful comment regarding sourcing. There are quite a few profiles which are on my Watchlist, but of which I am not manager. I am working my way through my Watchlist and will get around to adding proper sources eventually. In the meantime, many thanks for your additions.

By the way, that link just produces a blank screen - it looks like something that requires an app that my system will not support, so not a lot of use really.

The search uses WikiTree+ which is a website and not an app. I forgot to say you will need to click a blue button that says "Get profiles" in the left sidebar. Until you run the search that, the center section will be empty. If you don't see that, can you get to https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm ? And another option is this search https://plus.wikitree.com/function/WTWebProfileSearch/Profiles.htm?Query=created%3Dcreator_Armitage-1017+open+created%3Dcreated_2024&MaxProfiles=500&Format= which might work if the other doesn't.

You replaced Ellen Duckworth as mother of Richard Greenwood with her sister Betty. You replaced the correct person with the wrong one. I corrected it now. Ellen was Richard's mother, Betty was Richard's aunt. Richard and Daniel Thwaites Jr were first cousins

I apologize for not correctly making the correction. I removed Ellen (Duckworth) Greenwood (abt.1783-abt.1855) as FATHER of Richard Greenwood (abt.1816-). I must have gotten the wrong ID when I thought I added her as the mother.

I've accidentally the wrong gender for a few people, I did change as many as I can remember to the right one, looks like I forgot one. I'm glad you went out correcting the one I forgot, just you ended up replacing Richard's mother by mistake. Not to worry. Easy thing to happen

Thank you for the biography updates on some of the people in my ancestry. Unfortunately I don't have much of a chance to update them, usually because of work amongst other things

It is very understandable that work would take precedence. I may add a few more sources to your Lancashire family
