Hi Larry,

I've gone back and re-revised Mary (Unknown) Sturges (abt.1643-aft.1695) after you used the bio app to revise the profile. I can see that you're trying to preserve information from the old bio, but again there was information I had to go back and do.

I would suggest not using autobio on biographies that already have information especially inline citations on them. Mary's bio was far from complete, but it had some important journal references. Autobio can only understand sources that it recognizes as vital records, and so what were originally inline references for specific facts were removed and placed as general sources. Also, particularly for pre-1700 profiles, it may not be desirable to use the auto-bio to create automatic lists from connected profiles (which may in fact be unsourced). It's nice that the app creates the profile links, but it has no way to check if those children or siblings are in fact accurate. Placing them in the bio in the list implies that they've been reviewed. For a pre-1700 profile, when I'm adding a list of children, I usually do that directly from sources as a first step, including full dates, being clear whether a date is an estimate or not. That helps with determining birth order and being able to evaluate other evidence. Then as time allows, I will work on the children's profiles using that as a guide. Having the profile links is nice, but not as important as having a correct birth order and dates. I appreciate that you're only trying to improve the bios, but maybe ask profile managers first before using autobio which is effectively a complete rewrite if there is already some content there.

Hello Larry. Regarding Charlotte Randall I'm a little behind in reviewing my earlier years work for direct ancestor profiles that I manage and it appears in Jan. you made a few 'minor' editing changes like adding a word here and there (for example sometimes I forget to include a 'the' or 'they') for which I thank you. But, after adding hyperlinks for the children in her bio, which is OK, you then also erased a significant amount of my primary sourced research that I included in her bio under the 12 children noted from her 2 marriages. Via email I've received, this work has been noted by Charlotte (Randall) Estey descendants as being quite usefull to them due to the fact that this family relocates from Maine to Minnesota via a stop-off in Wiscconsin which is confusing to current day descendants who are working backwards from the present and aren't very experienced in family genealogy work. I like the children's profile hyperlinks that you added but before any future erasing of the (extensive) work done by another, particularly when it's well sourced and it helps explain the cross-country relocations of each of the 14 family members, it's best to run it by the profile PM first. I appreciate your help in this matter. As a side note: If you read through some respected (sourced) family history published books or periodicals you'll see this same format that I used for Charlotte (as a primary head of her family) repeated throughout. Sincerely, Leigh Anne
Hi Larry,

I see that you have the category, Puritan Great Migration, on your profile, and as a result, any change that is made to your profile shows up in our project activity feed. This category is for immigrants to New England between 1621-1640.

If you want to show that you are a PGM descendant, please use the PGM Descendant sticker instead: See this G2G for further info: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1629092/are-descendant-great-migration-immigrant-colonial-england

Thank you

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Larry, I see you have improved the bio of Eva Eickmeyer Hathaway. I'm curious to ask how you know this info. I'm part of the Eickmeyer family. But I don't have much info on Eva or her son Jack Hathaway. I would like to know more about the Hathaways. If you are related or have more info about any of the Hathaways, I would love to hear from you.

My husband is descended from Thomas Stanton and Mary Anne Ridgley of Grantsville, MD. The application for historical status for Stanton’s Mill states that our Thomas Stanton was of Scots-Irish origin from Anne Arundel County. I have been unable to trace this family back to their immigrant ancestors. Any help would be appreciated.

You're very welcome! As a Data Doctor, it's always hard to know if you're doing the right thing. I usually hear about what is wrong! Keep up the profile work on the Buchers; glad to help if you need me.

Hi Larry,

Re: changes to Colony place names (such as those made on Samuel Treat) - there's an error in the Family Search database that we use for auto filling of place names for Massachusetts. Only prior to 1691 was it Massachusetts Bay Colony and Plymouth Colony. After 1691, it was the Province of Massachusetts Bay (not "Colony"). There is no word on when this error may be corrected, so please be cautious and aware of this problem.
