Note: entry shows ... was bap. David son to James Richardson and Christian Outerston by the Revd Mr Culbertson (also an Andrew at Morebattle Aug 4 "of Morebattle in said Parish"[3]
Note
Note: Several trees show the David married to Catherine (born NY) as the son of James RICHARDSON and Christian OUTERSON/DUTERSON but source data is lacking (as yet). It does look possible.
Of particular interest is his 1850 NY census entry where he anc Catherine are at Deerfield, Onedia Co., about 12 miles away from where his potential step brother Thomas ended up (Trenton, Oneida Co.)[4]
Note: RICHARDSON: David 28 farmer b Scotland; Catherine 27 b NY; Joshua STORRS 13 b NY (Possible step brother Thomas was at Trenton by 1860, 12 miles away)[6]

Census:

Place: La Crescent, Houston Co., Minnesota, USA
Note: RICHARDSON: David 64 b Scotland; Catharine 62 b NY; Irving 26 b MN; Cora 23 b WI;[10]
Note: two films, slightly different formatting, of this marriage, both show: "James Richardson in the parish of Morebattle Christian Outterson in the parish of Eckford gave up their names for proclamation in order to Marriage Given to the poor 1/-", ie no indication whether or not James was a widower[11][12][13]
Note: Is the James married to Christian OUTERSON in Eckford, 1820, the [PAGELINK:]56054; James[:PAGELINK] who would by then be the widower of Margaret MABON?
Evidence (circumstantial) for the prosecution is a son named Archibald Moffat RICHARDSON (1832).
If so, by 1832 his [PAGELINK:] 56061; son James[:PAGELINK] by 1st marriage to Margaret has married, 1824, Mary MOFFAT of Leeds, daughter of tailor Archibald MOFFAT, and had emigrated to Bermuda.
Additional even more circumstantial evidence is that at least one tree thinks Christian was born in Yorkshire, and that a google books snippet from New Brunswick Lineages provides dates of 1770-1850 for James (Edinburgh - Lower Canada), ie could have had a 1st family.
Against the id, is that 1812 to 1820 seems a longish time to wait to find a second wife to take care of the young family he had been left with in 1812, but could also account for the fact that at least 4 of his older children by the (supposed) 1st marriage emigrated!
