Birth

Caroline Reed was born^[1] Burwash, Sussex, England in 1852. She was the daughter of Edmund Reed and Mary (Woodgate) Reed. Although the GRO record for the birth is in the name of Caroline, she seems to have used Catherine during her life.

Her siblings are: Sarah (age 24 - born in Heathfield), Martha (age 13 - born in Heathfield), George (age 10 - born in Heathfield) and Dorcas (age 2 - born in Warbleton). James Woodgate (age 54 - probably Mary's brother) is boarding with them.

Burwash and Warbleton are agricultural communities in East Sussex.

In the 1871 Census^[12]Caroline Reed (age 19) is still at home with her parents Edmund Reed (age 66) and Mary (Woodgate) Reed (age 56) at Bodle Street, Warbleton in the Hailsham District. Her brother George (age 21) is also there.

Marriage

Caroline Reed married^[13] Benjamin Owen Dawe at St John's Church, Bodle Street Green, Sussex, England on 27 October 1872. Note that the Marriage entry for the bands calls Caroline - Catherine.

Caroline and Benjamine had four children together: Joseph Arthur (born 1878), Alice Beatrice (born 22 August 1879), Wallace Edgar (born 18 June 1882) and Frederick Benjamin Owen (born 1888). Catherine and Benjamin witnessed the marriage of their daughter Alice.

Death

Caroline (Reed) Dawe died^[14] in 1910 with the death registered in Croydon district.
