- A marriage register entry for the Parish of Haddington in the County of Haddington tells us that on Monday, May 9, 1870, at Campton, 26-year-old bachelor George Redpath, a farm servant, married 30-year-old spinster Janet Forbes after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland.
- The register entry also informs us that groom George lived at Liberton, Edinburgh; his father was farm servant David Redpath and his mother was Agnes Redpath, formerly Manderson. Furthermore, bride Janet lived at Campton, Haddington; her father was farm servant Adam Forbes and her mother was Margaret Forbes, formerly Anderson.
