James was born in 1847. There is speculation that Judge Benjamin M. Stevens born 11/13/1844, died 11/22/1894 was a brother of Jamesy David Raley. Stevens real name at birth was Charley Reighly or Reiley, Stevens had 4 brothers and a sister listed in his obituary in the Elba Alabama newspaper, they were Elias Reighly, William Reighly and James Reighly and Henry Reily and Neece Mary Reighly. Executrix was Mrs. J. M. Stevens. Why he had changed his name from Reighly to Stevens is unclear. Jamesy David Raley passed away in 1916.
