About the Project

The Turnbull Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Turnbull name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Turnbull name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Turnbulls), by time period (18th Century Turnbulls), or by topic (Turnbull DNA, Turnbull Occupations, Turnbull Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Hi, Natalie (Durbin) Trott - I was looking to assist, not coordinate... I am involved in quite a lot of other research at this time. Sorry!

I have an interest in the Turnbull surname from Roxburghshire around the Teviot area and centering on Hawick. My great-grandmother, Jane Turnbull, was born in the Illawara District of NSW, to Robert Turnbull and Elizabeth Wilson Turnbull. Robert's parents, William Turnbull and Mary Wilson Turnbull emigrated from Roxburghshire some time between 1851 and 1860 to the Illawara District. Both William and Mary died in the 1870s.

Jane's profile is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Turnbull-138. Her father Robert's profile is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Turnbull-143. His father William's profile is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Turnbull-145.
