About the Project
The Oliver Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Oliver name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Oliver name.
As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Oliver's), by time period (18th Century Oliver's), or by topic (Oliver DNA, Oliver Occupations, Oliver Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

David Oliver 1786-1854 David C. Oliver 1822-1895 Stillwell Bishop Oliver 1867-1948 ( bio grandfather) New Jersey, U.S.A.
to have died at sea.
Family Tree Maker tells me that there are now 95 Oliver's in various branches. I have though tended to concentrate on the Oliver's of Ryton County Durham who would have been living there when faced by the 20,000 Scots Covenanter Army in 1640. That force very likely had some combatants from one of my Scottish ancestry.
My grandfather was Stillwell Bishop Oliver (1867-1948) born in the U.S. and died in Pennsylvania. His father was David C. Oliver born in 1822. I believe there were Scottish ancestors and am searching. Do you have any of these Olivers in your branches? Many of these Olivers were born/lived in/died in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. I would appreciate any potential connections! Thank you! My mtDNA is I2. Please contact me at : [email address removed]
