Francis died on 25 November 1865, aged 40 years, at New Town Road, Hobart. DEATHS.

PIKE—On 25th November, at Jean Cottage, New Town Road, Francis William Pike, in the 41st year of his age. The funeral will leave his late residence on Wednesday next, at 8 o’clock a.m., when friends are invited to attend.

He was buried in St Davids Park Cemetery, Hobart, Hobart City, Tasmania. ^{[7] [8] [9]} His gravestone reads:
