Hello,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

You might want to set your Privacy to Private with Public Family Tree. The WikiTree programming needs to see your Family Tree tab to make DNA and other cousin connections for you. Please take a look at my profile http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cooper-1 where I use Private with Public Biography AND Family Tree to see a list of some of my WikiTree cousin connections and my list of U.S. Presidential cousins.

Welcome! We are so glad you are here! Please let me know if you are interested in joining our WikiTree DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA or our FamilyTreeDNA.com public page at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/wiki-tree/about

Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA on the GenealogistToGenealogist (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

If you are adding any DNA tests to profiles on WikiTree, please be sure to add the tests to the actual test participant's profile, and that the Privacy is set to show the participant's Family Tree tab.

We also encourage you to join our Google+ Community for DNA discussions, questions and new information: https://plus.google.com/communities/111329829039015718912

To check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop-down menu, and then click the link to the DNA project. In addition to information that may be of interest to you, the project page has a list of members you can contact if you would like additional details.

Hi and Welcome Dennis!

I’m glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, please click my name and check out the links I list under my "Greeter" section - especially the Sources links and the link to Debby, a former greeter, who has helpful information on her profile page also. If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help, you can post to the G2G forum or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree!

Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

I have been working on my family since 2009 on Ancestry and Geni. My nephew Dave Patrick encouraged me to join Wiki tree to help him. I just ordered a DNA Y67 test from Family Tree DNA can't wait to see where the DNA test leads me to next.
