Here is my family tree.
Frankly, it can be a wasted effort to private message me. Please be warned that I often — well, most often — mess about in lines unrelated to me, and in most cases I haven't any more information that what is found here.
I always love to hear from relatives, but I do regularly ignore my inbox. If you are still waiting for a response or action from me, sincere apologies and you will hear from me eventually.
Christine (Parish) Randall was born in South Australia, Australia
In 1955, when I was born, my father worked in the pine plantations surrounding Mount Gambier. We moved often as Dad followed work, so my schooling was spread across the Wimmera and Western Districts of Victoria.
In 1972, I undertook training as an Enrolled Nurse in the hospital where I was born. As I was being driven to and fro on my free weekends, I loved seeing the pines the same age as me. Sadly, they have been cut down now and the site replanted.
I have two children from my first marriage, and three step-sons from my second. I live in Central Victoria, with my husband.
Without delving into family history, I would never have discovered that my husband is my sixth cousin. I had to look very hard for matching DNA. It was there, but very tiny - and only found after changing the defaults on GEDmatch.
I've come to WikiTree to share freely, as I have always done with the many cousins who have come and gone in my life. Like those pines - my time is coming. [1][2]
Should I be incapacitated, or in the event of my death, I hereby give permission for all profiles I manage to be cared for by any WikiTreer who is interested. CJR. (15 Jul 2022)

I'm sorry Amanda, for overstepping. I think I would be adding information from the index which was left out, and or removing extra BDM links that go to the exact same place. I'm not suggesting the sources are wrong, just could have more information - especially for showing name spellings.
I shall be more careful, and considerate. I do get carried away and forget to see if there is a profile manager.
You will have to tell your autobot that it's okay to have multiple identical links. For I've come across at least one error message where it said that there were too many. Each individual child in a large family had been sourced in the parental biography.
It just felt like click-bait to me with so many links going to the same home page but, I shall mend my ways.
Please don't add "Born in the Colony" stickers to profiles of people born AFTER 1900, it causes data error 847 Born after template time frame. Use the "Australia Sticker" instead. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Australia_Sticker
Oh, the penny has just dropped — you've been telling me to use the Australia sticker. From 1901, I've been using the State stickers. Are they no longer in use?
Ahh, I've been thinking of them as "State" stickers, as being distinct from the simple born in Australia one. Got it. That is what I've been doing, except when I lapse. I triple check before doing a sticker now. I love them and couldn't give them up.
Christine I added Thomas Harry Smith to the William James Smith, my grandpa connection.Thomas was thought to be buried in the Dimboola Cemetery but that is proven to be another Thomas Harry Smith. Tracked him down to Warrandyte cemetery through his death certificate.Died 1975.
He is buried with George Arthur Smith Born in Surrey England NOK F Smith. Was a ww1 Vet 14 Bat 1st AIF number 1421. Need to establish his connection with the WJ Smith connection before I put an amended/additional memorial on the shared grave
email ross-smith [email address removed] If anyone knows please let me know. Ross Smith
Thanks Ross. I've also replied to your latest email this morning, with two as yet unopened. Please feel free to add anything anywhere and well done with finding Thomas' true burial place.
Hi Christine, any profiles born after 1900, should have the Australia Sticker, not the Born in the Colony sticker, otherwise it generates a data error.
Thanks Christine, they are not always on your profiles, sometimes on ones you've created then orphaned. Thanks for all your help, regards, Margaret. :)
Hi Christine, I may be descended from Sylvester Nellis, but am not certain. He is still listed on Wikitree as my 2xggrandfather partly because I don't know what to do about him. I notice that you have added Alfred Watson Crooks as a son of Sylvester. I doubt that and would be pleased to give further details of his parents. I also live in Central Victoria and have Randalls on my tree. One of them married my GG Aunt in 1878 in Golden Square.
looks like I forgot to uncheck Sylvester during profile creation. It was John Crooks, though. Alfred isn't connected to a father. I was confident of Alfred's mother as she was named in his death registration, Queensland. But I haven't sourced John's birth yet, which explains why I'm still profile manager. if Jane isn't their mother, please feel free to throw them out of the family unit!
I couldn't recall what I was doing in the family line but on reading Jane's profile it came back to me. I was probably adding someone with a similar name and thought I'd add some more sourcing and then I got intrigued by her.
One of my husband's Randall line - John Cole Randall, junior - married in Eaglehawk in 1917 to a girl from the Rigbye family. That's the main Bendigo area connection I know offhand.
Anyway, I've unlinked John from Sylvester.
Cheers,
Christine
Hi again Christine, I am not surprised you became intrigued by Jane Watson. To my knowledge she had children with 5 different men, though it could be more. When she died, her will was listed as being from Jane Crooks (also known as Jane Nellis). This enabled me to re-connect with her as she had earlier left several children and teamed up with John Crooks. She stayed with him the longest, so I am hoping she was happy there.
I see that you also added information to my ggrandparents William Noble Bloomfield and Rose Mary McBride. Are you also connected to them? My Randall relatives came along a bit later than your husband's, so although they may be connected, I haven't researched them. Regards, Carol.
Hi Carol, no. I'm not related to any of your people as far as I know. Since you had brought them to my attention again, I decided to push back another generation — just because I could. I do have an interest in the Bloomfield name, but only through a distant marriage, and I have a thing about connecting families in WikiTree, where possible.
I've wandered off elsewhere now. Warm regards, Christine.
I'm now done with the Boneham tree.... They sure did a good job of populating the South East of South Australia. I can just imagine how hard life was for them...just agricultural labourers .. Kalangadoo in the 1860's would have been bark hut stuff, very very wet and swampy. My mother Marguerite, was born to Kathleen Melba Boneham... who very sadly died as a very young mother of 3 daughters... I will post a photo of Melba soon.. The only connection I had as a child was with her sister Jess, and that was really only because we lived in the South East ( Naracoorte)for a few years when I was little and could visit her in Glencoe ( Russel and Jess Fraser ) I regret that I didn't know more about them when I was younger
Thanks David. Good job. A photo of Melba would be great when you have time. Ahh, it's always the way, we never ask about family things when we're young.
I just had a quick look at your branch and can a suggestion of conflated profiles with your Stewart girl. I'll go have a 'play' with it.
Angus Cornish, grandfather of Hilda Cornish (Cummings) Parish, was 1st cousin to my great-great grandfather. I can provide you with further information about Angus and his ancestors if this is of interest to you.
Regards,
Michael
I thought I had replied to your kind offer (perhaps on Hilda's profile). Anyway, please feel free to link in your line to Hilda. Have fun, and do give me a yell if you need some sourcing for joining them up.
Sometimes I catch myself putting up the wrong sticker when entering children from a family spanning the changeover. Hopefully there aren't too many more about.
Ta, Christine
It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!
If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.
We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.
Can you please take me off the Australia Project for now, particularly the mailing list (which I rarely look at!). I'm trying to finish a fantasy series I'm writing and I keep putting off starting as I love it here. Doesn't mean I'll stop visiting WikiTree, though I only ever got the first book done once I abandoned family history altogether. Having my DNA done didn't help the series one bit!
Thanks for checking in with me.
Warm regards,
Christine
Hello David, thanks for popping me on Frank's trusted list - which I have been too hasty in taking myself off of. I'm related only via marriage to Frank's wife's first husband, Peter Moore. My mum and I have dna matches but we aren't sure of the connection yet but suspect it's on the Moore line.
As to merging the two Ritas, I'll first ask to go on the trusted lists and then set up the 'initiate a merge' processs. Now that I'm not on Frank's trused list I can't see the other Rita now. Jeff has one and you the other I think.
Hello Lynette, I don't believe I'm related to this line. Sometimes I come across people from the Wimmera in Victoria with surnames of interest to me, so I source and connect them to their parents, and added children and spouses, etc. These days, I then take myself out, unless it's a family I have a DNA match with.
I've just removed myself from your grandfather's profile. Welcome to WikiTree. If you find you like the WikiTree concept, please feel free to add to his lineage.
The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out our annual check-in to see how you are going in the project. We'd really like to give you a huge thank you for all your work on Australian profiles over the past year! We've made great progress in 2020/21 with your assistance.
Please could you reply to this message, to let us know if you would like to stay on in the project and if you are happy with your current role and team involvement.
If you would like to do something additional or different, take a look on the Australia Project page to see what other opportunities there are.
It would also be great to get any feedback or suggestions that you have to improve the project.
If you're happy with the minimal effort I put in, I'm happy to stay as part of the project. I usually have enough 'extra' besides my own profiles without checking the Australia Project page, but it was a good reminder that I can find tasks from there. Just looked at the unsourced Victorian profiles and it felt an itch to get at it! Have made a note to do at least one from there daily.
LOL. As if I could stop at one!
Thanks for checking in Gillian. Warm regards, Christine
Hi Christine, thanks for getting back to me. It's great having you in the project. Absolutely no pressure... just feel free to do what you have time and interest to do.
Hi Christine , I see you have James Barton Milligan in your tree, what connection is he to you ? James is my gg/ grandfather on my mother’s side, I would like to add him to my site if ok with you, I have my tree on another site and some on Family Search. I have James death from the Castlemaine Benevolent Home which confirms he was from Mildura where my family live.
Hello Suzanne, you're welcome to link James into your line where he fits. We don't 'own' our ancestors here on WikiTree, one of the things i love about it. It does take some getting used to, all the same!
That said, James is not my ancestor. His sister married into my Parish line. I tend to stray far and wide. May thanks for reaching out and confirming you've sighted the death certificate which places him from Mildura. I'm looking for a firm connection to Tasmania, though — perhaps from one of his children's birth certificates listing his birthplace it there are any born in the right timeframe or place.
Christine, I am overwhelmed by your generosity and ability to cover so much ground in such a short period of time. I am forever grateful for your help with my Cashman project and I hope that in the future all of the information will benefit from the records accumulated in WikiTree. I am also amazed at the amount of Cashmans in existence, I had no idea there would be so many. It is amazing. Over time some branches of this surname should form from the data collected and our efforts will contribute to the Cashman history. I hope others take an interest as they discover their past as well.
Anyway, I can see you have helped numerous others and could be considered a guiding angel for many of us.
Keep well and THANK YOU.
Regards, Keith Cashman
Hello, Christine. I see that yesterday (Nov 22) you were very busy with a Beazley family. I am the admin of the Beasley Surname study, including, of course, Beazley. The work on my project has been overwhelming. I have had some work with England, Australia, and New Zealand including some DNA, but it is quite slim and for the past several years I have reluctantly set aside this work. The great majority of Beasleys worldwide is in the US and most of them with American colonial roots.
I'm interested to know what prompted your attention to this family. Is this a limited project or something you, or others you know, plan to pursue?
my recent play in the Beazley line come about while adding descendants for my direct Ancestor, William Brewer, probably of Wiltshire. Luckily, I had left a personalised version on each directly related person - I tend to forget why I've been mucking about in a certain line!
This is the preliminary foray - no triangulations have been done.
DNA
AncestryDNA. Thrulines (TM) suggestions, indicates that Christine Randall has the following connections with DNA matches descending from the children of her direct ancestor, William Brewer (1743-1826)
Thomas Brewer (1781-1864) - 1 DNA match
Nicholas Brewer (1787-1857) - 1 DNA match, via his daughter Mary C Brewer's line - her daughter, Ruth Beazley (-1926) - her son, Henry Victor Taylor (1871-1936) - his daughter, Hilda Georgina Taylor (1897-1995) - her daughter 'SW' (11cM, 1 segment)
Richard Brewer (1789-1857) - 2 DNA matches
Robert Brewer (1791-1845) Christine's 4th great Grandfather - 7 DNA matches
Elizabeth Brewer (1795- ) - 1 DNA match
I also have a Beasley connection on my mother's paternal side, in New South Wales, Australia. Doris Mary Creasy (my 2nd cousin twice removed) married Thomas Hayes Noble Beasley who was born in New Zealand. They married there, but both returned to Australia.
I checked my family tree (not yet on here) and I have a Beasley line belonging to George Henry Beasley] (1850-1923) and Rachael Mills - by marriage to their son, James, born 1885, who married into my mother's maternal line. I'll make it my mission today to link them to my tree. Glad to help if I can, cheers,
Christine.
The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

Currently you are on the Profile Improvers team. If you would like a change, you can check on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.
It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also do you have Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G? Don't forget to add it in if you don't have that tag yet.
Christine you were asking about sources for an English pre 1700 profile. Can I suggest you sign up for the England Orphan Trail if you are not familiar with English sources. I noticed that you have a few English ancestors that you are researching and joining the England Project may be helpful.
Hi Christine. I am a 4th Great Niece of Martha Douglas (nee Elliott). Thank you for posting info on the family. You have helped me confirm some details.
I am the great grandson of John Mackley, son of Henry Mackley and am able to add details of this family tree.
I am a fourth generation farmer (retired) on land settled by John Mackley at Duchembegarra after farming at Jung near Horsham, Victoria, Australia.
My direct line is:
Self, Allan Arthur John Mackley, James Arthur Mackley, John Mackley, Henry Mackley.
I have one sister, Kathryn Jane.
My Father had 3 brothers and 2 sisters
My grandfather (James) had one brother Herbert and 3(?) sisters
Yes Christine I have flagged a few Profiles this weekend that I intend following up. I am working on Immigration and shipping categories for this period of immigration to Australia. Well before airplane travel so it is either Immigration ship or convict transportation. Hopefully I will be as unobtrusive as possible as I work through them.
Sorry to have intruded on a profile you maybe working on.
