Biography

William was born on Dec. 3, 1819 in Screven County, GA.

He married Gemima Parker on Feb. 22, 1844 in Screven County, GA.

He died on Sept. 13, 1900 and is buried in the Newton Family Cemetery, Rocky Ford, Screven County, GA.

Based upon the census records, the following children are found:
1. William, born about 1845
2. James, born about 1846
3. Mary, born about 1847
4, Jane, born about 1848
5. Augustus, born about 1849
6. Susan, born about 1855
7. Martha, born about 1858
8. Cynthia, born about 1863
9. George, born about 1865

Note

According to the 1900 US Census William had moved in with his son George and his wife Mary.

Probably means that Jemima had died by this time.

William was living in Screven Co in the 1850 Census with his wife Jimima, and 5 children and his mother Mary aged 75.

On Aug. 20, 1894 William sold to his youngest son George Newton lll, 100 acres of land known as the "House Tract."
