Biography

Robert was born about 1770. He was the son of Roelef Morgan.

  • 1800 US Federal Census for District 2, Harford, Maryland shows Robert Morgan of Rulif as the head of a household consisting of 1 White male 26-44 (Robert - himself), 1 White female 26-44 ( Elizabeth - his wife ), 1 White female 10-15 ( ? ) and 1 White female under 10 (Elizabeth, age 7) [1]
  • Feb 1805 Harford County, Maryland - Robert's father, Roelef Morgan published his will in which he named his wife Margret Morgan, three sons Robert, John and Thomas Morgan and two daughters Mary Bailey and Eleanor Mitchell. [2]
  • 10 Dec 1809 Harford County, Maryland - Balance of the estate of Roelef Morgan was distributed to his widow Margaret Morgan and three sons Robert, John and Thomas Morgan [3]
  • Captain Robert C Morgan died in Harford County on the 24th of March 1819, age about 49). He is buried in Angel Hill Cemetery overlooking Havre de Grace, Maryland. [4]
  • At the time of his death, Robert Morgan owned half interest in two schooners, the General Scott, with his son-in-law, Captain John Elliott, and the Washington, with his brother, John Morgan. Robert willed his interest in these two ships to his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Elizabeth Hawkins Elliott. [5]
