Biography

Nimrod Morgan is a part of US Black heritage.

Nimrod was born about 1793 in Virginia. Some later records, such as the 1880 US Census and The History of Clark County give his birthplace as Kentucky. ^[1] He certainly lived in Kentucky before coming to Ohio, but some census records give the birthplace of both he, and his wife, as Virginia. He passed away in 1881. Nimrod was one of the early settlers and a pioneer of Clark County, Ohio. ^[2] Clark County was established in 1818, and when he arrived is not known, but he was still in Kentucky as late as 1824 when his daughter, Lucinda, was born. In 1830 the family was in Springfield, Ohio as evidence by the census. ^[3] Nimrod appeared on the tax rolls of Springfield in 1830 for lots 219. ^[4] By 1835 he had increased his holdings. ^[5] He was taxed for lots 219, 244, 245, 246, 247, with a total value of 162
